Fire Chief Robert J. Staples Fire Chief Robert J. Staples started his emergency medical services career in 1976 and fire service career in 1991. Bob holds an Associate's degree in Emergency Medical Services, a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management and a Master's degree in Management and Administration of Educational Programs. Originally working for the Deltona Fire District from 1991 - 1997 he served as the department's Emergency Medical Services Coordinator from 1992 - 1995. During that time he received the Christopher Columbus Community Service Award (1993). Prior to returning to the City in 2003, he served as the Program Manager for EMS Programs at Daytona Beach Community College. Chief Staples was part of the 2005 International Trauma Life Support Advanced Life Support championship team and was awarded "EMS Paramedic of the Year" by the Florida Fire Chiefs' Association in 2006. Chief Staples' responsibilities include overall supervision and management of the fire department, budget preparation, program coordination and emergency management.
Deputy Chief Robert L. Rogers Deputy Chief Rogers began his fire service career 1975 with the Killarney Fire District. After working for 12 years with the Orange County Fire Rescue Division, he came to Deltona as the Assistant Chief in 1987. After 7 years in that position, Robert became Fire Chief in 1994 and held that position until 2001. He is a state-certified Firefighter, EMT and Fire Officer. He holds a degree in Fire Technology, has attended the National Fire Academy and the Emergency Management Institute in Emmetsburg, Maryland and is a graduate of the prestigious four year Executive Fire Officer program. Robert’s current duties include Emergency Management coordination for the City and special projects. Deputy Chief Chris Nabicht Deputy Chief Chris Nabicht is a 20-year fire service veteran who began his service in Deltona as a volunteer. He was hired in 1980 as a firefighter and was promoted to the rank of Captain in 1988. Chris is a certified Firefighter, EMT, Fire Officer, Instructor, Municipal and School Inspector, Investigator, and Law Enforcement Officer. He holds a degree in Fire Science and has been established as an expert by the courts in the area of fire investigation. Chris also completed the National Fire Academy Fire/Arson Investigating course. His duties include fire investigations, inspections, plans reviews, quality control of fire incident reporting, and maintaining the data files in the Computer Aided Dispatch system.
Assistant Chief David M. Faer Division Chief David M. Faer started in the fire service as a Deltona Fire District volunteer in 1980 and in 1981 began his service in Deltona as a career firefighter. He has worked his way through the ranks until his promotion to Captain in 1987. He is a state-certified Firefighter, Paramedic, and Fire Officer I & II. He holds a degree in Fire Science and is a graduate of the prestigious four-year Executive Fire Officer Program held at the National Fire Academy in Emmetsburg Maryland. Dave has been actively involved in the education of adults and children in fire safety. In 2006 David transferred from Fire Operations as an Operations Division Chief; to the Division Chief of Communications, Public Education & Information. His duties include Fire & Life Safety Education, Fire Department Public Information Officer & City of Deltona’s Communication & Dispatch Division. Division Chief Kevin Homan Division Chief Kevin Homan is a 25-year fire service veteran, starting his career in Carthage, N.Y. He was hired as one of Deltona’s first firefighter/Paramedics in 1986. He is a state-certified Firefighter, Paramedic, and Fire Officer. He holds certifications as an ACLS/BLS instructor and is certified in rope rescue and rescue diving. Kevin is a member of the Knights of Columbus and was voted Firefighter of the Year by them, as well as the American Legion for 1992-93. His daily duties as Shift Commander for C-shift include the supervision of 4 stations and 23 personnel. He is also the department’s Supply Officer. Division Chief Frank “Bill” Snyder Division Chief Frank “Bill” Snyder is a 19-year veteran of the fire service, hired as a firefighter in 1986. He is a state-certified Firefighter, Paramedic, Fire Officer, Inspector, and Instructor. Bill holds an Associate of Science degree in Emergency Medical Services and has served as a volunteer with the Orange City Fire Department and worked as Orange City Fire Chief for four years. Bill is currently in his first year of the prestigious four-year Executive Fire Officer program. Bill has been involved in Little League both in Deltona and Orange City.
