December 31, 2007 - Retiring the Task Forces
As 2007 came to an end, the residents of the City of Deltona realized a successful conclusion to our community's most ambitious planning effort, "Destination Deltona."

In August, we started out as a large group with many priorities, all leading in several directions. And in each of our three subsequent Task Force Meetings, we grew into a unified faction, consolidating the best of our ideas and goals. We were so successful in our tasks, that we exceeded our objectives for Economic Development, Sense of Community and Quality of Life, and accomplished our goals during the last Task Force Meeting on Saturday, December 1st.

With the City's forward direction firmly in place, the "Destination Deltona" Task Forces have met their responsibilities, and can now be retired. The two final Task Force Meetings, planned for January 9th and 16th have been removed from the City calendar. We thank you again for your enthusiastic and energetic contributions as our hometown moves towards its future.

September 14, 2007 - Formation of the Task Forces

August 11, 2007 - Launching Destination Deltona
The City of Deltona is creating a Community Strategic Plan to help achieve its maximum potential. This effort entails the development of a collaborative vision for the City's present and future, and a plan to achieve this vision through a series of specific action steps. The vision is the destination, and the Community Strategic Plan is the roadmap. The Community Strategic Plan is therefore known as "Destination Deltona".

The Community Strategic Plan will address issues that are key to the City's present and future. These issues include:

  • Quality of Life
  • Economic Development
  • Sense of Community (Placemaking)
